Religious Education is SO important! As the Catechism of the Catholic Church states, the parents are the primary educators of their children. We here at St. Francis are privileged to supplement that education! From Preschool (Little People’s Church, ages 3-5 years) through the Sixth Grade, we work to augment their parental teaching. Our main focus/goal for the children is that they come to know that God loves them unconditionally! There is nothing that will ever change that! On a grade level we work to teach them the wonder of prayer. There is “Chapel Time” built into the curriculum. That is the children spending class on a regular basis in the church. The curriculum is based on “Basic Beliefs” – meaning that on a grade level, in addition to prayer, they learn the Sacraments, Commandments, Beatitudes, Works of Mercy, etc.
We have Days of Recollection and Retreats for the children. They participate in the Liturgy of the Mass as Lay Ministers. Our young Lectors are among the best in the Parish! There are also class plays during the Holy Seasons of Advent and Lent. It is our hope that our students see religion class as important - or even more so – than “regular school” and extracurricular activities. We truly believe that our children are not “the future” of the Church… they are the “NOW”.

Is God calling you to Teach?
Religious Education Teachers are always in need! Please pray about the possibility that God may be calling you to teach our youth. No experience is necessary, and materials are provided. All you need is a love for God and the desire to help the Church grow. Our teachers teach students from 3 yrs old through high school seniors. If God is calling you to teach, please contact the one of the Religious Education directors.
