Before Christ was put to death on the cross, He promised his disciples that He would send His Spirit to comfort and strengthen them. To that end, the Holy Spirit was poured out on them forty days after His Resurrection on Pentecost. The Sacrament of Confirmation is our Pentecost. When we are confirmed, we receive the Holy Spirit through anointing with oil and the laying on of hands by the bishop. When we receive the sacred seal of anointing of the holy oil, we show that we belong to God and become part of the priesthood of believers, witnesses to Christ and heirs to His throne.
Candidates for the St. Francis de Sales Confirmation program will be in their first year of high school and must have attended a full year of religious education classes prior to beginning preparation for the sacrament, either here or at another Catholic Parish. These students are expected to continue participation in their current level of religious education; will be required to participate in two (2) pre-Confirmation retreats and must devote service time to our parish. For further information, please contact the Director of Religious Education 7th - 12th.
Adults wishing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation should contact the director of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, R.C.I.A. at [email protected].
